I finally did what I thought was impossible for the longest time. I asked a girl at the sports club I work at if she was seeing anyone and if she’d like to go out on a date...
This first gif was my brain and nerves, as I literally froze and couldn’t ask for 10 minutes....Trying to break down that nerve-racking door and just ask the question already. I tried to subtly ask if she was seeing anyone, but I couldn’t, so I just typed it out on my phone and handed it to her -_-:
This gif was me after she told me she was pursuing someone else, but would still be interested in going on a date, and gave me her number:
And now the gif that represents me and my brain afterwards:
I CAN FINALLY ACCEPT THAT I FINALLY ASKED SOMEONE OUT BEFORE I TURNED 21 TOMORROW!!! ^_^

Gifs make feelings feel better to feel. <3
Now, I am confused. I’ve had this conundrum myself numerous of times...I often did go out with the girl, and she followed through with what she said and pursued someone else.

RE: Girl goes on date with you while also dating someone else - Do it. But don’t attempt to force her into any titles or statuses. In fact, you should date a few girls too (or anyone you wish, this is a free world. Do you. Do other people as well, if they wish to be done) and learn what you like and dislike. It seems a bit shallow to say somethign like that, but it really is the truth. Don’t try to force someone to fit your ideal because they’re the first person to say yes. USE THIS CONFIDENCE! MAKE IT GROW!
RE: Birthday - Birthday burnouts will be a thing on my drive home in your honor. I suggest doing the same if possible.
RE: Your future Mustang - Careful. The speed is bad enough but driving a cool car while having confidence is a recipe for trouble. Why? That backseat is dangerous. I both want to and don’t want to run the numbers on exactly how much of America’s population was “conceived” in the back seats of mustangs and camaros.

Dating is the strangest dance we do as a species. There’s a million ways to do it, no one knows the steps, we trip and fall over one another yet it’s overall a good time.....What about it *isn’t* confusing? :P

I’m confused did you use actual words out of your mouth or type them on your phone and hand it to her. The first paragraph support the former and the second paragraph supports the latter.

I also dated a few people at a time. When they’re all at a casual level, there’s nothing wrong with it. And it’s generally pretty safe to assume that the person(s) you’re seeing is/are doing the same, at least for the first few dates.

Meh. One fuck up isn’t a big deal, especially if it’s a first date and you don’t really know the person that well. There will be plenty of other chances to fuck things up later too. ;)
Anyway, 25 is still plenty young too. I didn’t really start dating a lot until I was around 25. I’m 28 and have now met the girl I intend to marry, but I have plenty of friends significantly older than me still goin’ after it. Just have fun! :)

I’ve been in your shoes before man. I didn’t even kiss a girl until I was almost 21 and didn’t have my first girlfriend until I was 22. Keep asking girls out though. You won’t turn into a ladies man overnight but the more you talk to girls and ask girls out, the better you’ll get at it and the easier it will be. Think of it this way, for every girl you ask out and she says no or things with her don’t work out, you’re one step closer to finding a girl that says yes and/or actually wants to date you.
Just some friendly words of wisdom from a guy who’s been in your situation before.
Also, happy birthday. 21 is big one!

Wait, is “Phrasing” no longer a thing?
And yep, dating multiple people is a great way to get out and have fun without worrying about long term stuff.Sometimes you don’t even have to choose just one. :D

Awesome! It takes some courage to work up to that, but its always a relief once you ask, and if anything this will make it easier next time.
Funny story - There was a girl in high school I was friends with, and I really liked but I was never sure how she felt about me. One day she randomly calls me up and asks me out. I freaked out, had no idea what to say and eventually stammered out “I don’t know, let me think about it...” before hanging up. I then realized I was an idiot and called her back that evening and asked her out. For some reason she said yes.
Also, enjoy your 21st and party hard, but also try not to get alcohol poisoning.

Exactly. I give the advice to all my friends, who don’t date much/seem to have little drive for it (often because they’re afraid of the rejection or intimidated by the prospect), that the best thing they can do is go on as many dates as possible with no expectations. Just like anything, the more you do it the better you get at it. And with dating, you often end up meeting some pretty cool people and having fun new experiences. Even if they don’t lead to anything, you can end up with a new friend or some great memories. Possibly some not so great ones either, but hey, that’s life.

And sometimes you gotta turn bad memories into good ones. Like driving to a random snowcross event many hours away because you just went through a breakup! Hard to believe that was almost 8 months ago....

Also, just ask always, they say no, move on to the next. Its all about statistics, and you miss every shot you dont take.

21.75 years since conception! That should count for something. I know people after college who sat around in a pool for 9+ months, but we didn't hold that against them.

I mean, I wouldn’t recommend dating anyone who’s already in a relationship unless it’s an open relationship...it just makes both you and her look really bad. But everything else you said is on point. :)

No clue. She might be figuring her own situation out and just sorta handed you a warning that it’ll be a date-by-date relationship. But just take a breath, have fun, and enjoy the ride.

Meh. I’m with Satoshi. Best case scenario in dating is you hand someone a way to hurt you terribly, and they don’t... for a while. Worst case, you get turned down when you ask them out.

Could be, could also just be a truthful answer to your asking whether she was seeing someone. (i.e. “I’m not dating right now, but I might go out with someone I’m interested in. I’m telling you now, rather than hiding it until after the fact.”)
Whatever you do, DO NOT OVERTHINK.
That is all, have fun!

For sure, if she is near the same age as you are then you cannot expect anyone to have what they want figured out. At your age dating was not too serious even if it felt life or death.
Like everyone else here has said confidence (not cockiness) is an attractive quality. Playing a bit hard to get also works well not that it is easy when you really like someone.
Don’t get to hung up on one if they say no.
I also found that starting out friendly and talking a bit first was very conducive to getting dates.
Oh, and DON’T take yourself to seriously or expect anything. Everyone likes to have a laid back and fun time on the first few dates. If you can make the person laugh easily then you usually are golden for date 2.

The best thing about finally getting old enough to date good looking women... after a few you realize they aren’t special. They’re the same boring shitty people as the other 99% of people you meet. You’ll still eventually find the one that makes you happy, but it won’t be a scary thing to ask them out anymore. Most of them suck anyway.

In 1923, Babe Ruth broke the record for most home runs in a season. That same year, he also broke the record for most strike outs.
Thing is, no one remembers the second record, only the first.
